This is my favorite World of Warcraft character, Neina.
Neina (Nee-nuh) Colette Rainor | 22 years old | 5'7" | Human |
A pair of pale blue eyes peer over two round cheeks, littered with a spray of freckles. Raven bangs brush over her right eye and fall behind her ear, the remainder of her ebony locks resting on her shoulderblades. Her skin is bronze and sunkissed, a gentle contrast from the peachy color of her smirking lips. Her clothing is very weather-worn and bears evidence of hardship, the only items of merit on her person being a thin bronze band on her right hand and a silver stud pierced above her left nostril.
A circular pink scar blemishes the skin between her heart and left shoulder, accompanied by a sprawling, fist-sized scar positioned below her sternum.
What do you know about this character now that s/he doesn't yet know?
Neina isn't as useless as she thinks. She'll be put in a situation eventually where she'll be the only useful one around, and she may discover that she actually can make a difference.
What is this character's greatest flaw?
She's very flighty. She has trouble committing. Once something starts going well-- whether it be a friendship, a romance, or a business move-- Neina will inevitably bail. She has too much doubt in anything and everything.
What do you know about this character that s/he would never admit?
She loves to toy with people romantically--it makes her feel better about herself. While she's often been guilty of juggling several men at once, she'd never admit to it as actual "cheating." Because of this, Neina is extremely sparing with the word 'love.'
What is this character's greatest asset?
In her own opinion? Her body. Neina, forced into homelessness after the destruction of Southshore, has used her nearly perfect body and flirtatious personality to gain free access to food, water, shelter, clothing, sex--anything she feels she needs. On a deeper level, Neina has a big heart. When she cares about someone or something deeply enough, she'll never leave their side or give up.
If this character could choose a different identity, who would s/he be?
A soldier in the Southshore militia, for the chance to have protected her family.
What music does this character sing to when no one else is around?
Anything soothing, like lullabies.
In what or whom does this character have the greatest faith?
The bronze ring she wears on her right hand. It was forged and given to her by her brother and most beloved family member, Grae. When she gets nervous or feels she needs strength, she will twist the ring repeatedly around her finger.
What is this character's favorite movie?
If WoW had Earth movies, it'd probably be Bridesmaids. Neina loves to laugh, and that movie is hilarious.
Does this character have a favorite article of clothing?
Again, the bronze ring that Grae gave her. She loves her nose ring too though-- it makes her look hawt. ;D (That's what she tells herself at least.)
Does this character have a vice? Name it.
She looks down on wealthy people, despite her upbringing to "never judge a book by its cover." If she meets a noble or royal or anyone with money, she immediately views them as an object she can take advantage of, no matter how kind or humble they may be. Even before she was homeless, when she lived a solid life on her family's farm, Neina had this same attitude.
Name this character's favorite person (living or dead).
Her late brother Grae. Only being three years younger than she, Grae and Neina grew up together as an inseperable pair. Whether it be toiling on their livestock farm together or prankning the townsfolk, one could hardly be seen without the other at any point in time. While devestated about the loss of her entire family, Neina has the most trouble coping with the loss of Grae. Sometimes she convinces herself that he escaped and he's still alive, wandering somewhere around the Eastern Kingdoms.
What is this character's secret wish?
After the intial raid on Southshore had died down and there were less Horde troops in the area, Neina took a risk by sneaking back to her family's farm. She found her mother, father, and three of her younger brothers skewered in the basement. Her fourth brother, Drack, was nowhere to be found. Being the only one aware of Drack's meddling in dark magic, Neina pilfered through his belongings and found her little brother's weathered "Book of the Dead." While sternly telling anyone who asks about the book that it is strictly for the pictures of rare herbs, Neina's secret wish is to decipher the demonic language and use a spell to raise her family from the dead.
What is this character's proudest achievement?
Opening the Rainor's Rest homeless shelter in Ironforge. Even though it got wrecked by a wiley Death Knight, she still looks back on the achievement fondly.
Describe this character's most embarrassing moment.
During one of her man juggling episodes, Neina was rightfully exposed by one of her men of interest, Ander. Showing up at Rainor's Rest while Calvin was present, Ander began reminiscing loud enough for him to hear about all of the "special times" he and Neina had had together. Distraught, Calvin left the shelter, and never spoke to Neina again. Ander left too, fully aware of what he had done and more than likely proud of the lesson he'd taught Neina. Neina spent a good while alone after that, and for the first time, was able to reflect on her devilish habits.
What is this character's deepest regret?
Sometimes it's a regret, and other times she's thankful for it. Neina had two best friends growing up-- Ellen and Fallion. Jealous of their romantic relationship, Neina sought to break them apart by seducing Fallion. Despite the strong friendship between the three, Neina's selfish scheme worked and she and Fallion carried on a secret romance. The day of Ellen and Fallion's engagement--and also the day of the raid on Southshore--Neina was riddled with guilt and decided to come clean to her friend. After being confronted by Ellen, Fallion found Neina alone in her home and proceeded to assult her out of anger for exposing him. Scared and cornered, Neina attacked him with her pocket knife, sending him to the floor in a pool of his own blood. Before she could move a muscle, Ellen burst in, enraged and borderline psychotic, a pistol in hand. Without asking questions, Ellen was abhorred by the sight before her, and sent the bullet into Neina's chest. Terrified by the consequences of her actions, Ellen dragged her injured friend into the foothills beyond the village and left her there, hoping to play it off as a freak hunting accident. Simultaneously, the Horde attacked Southshore. Had it not been for her seething jealousy and her secret romance, Neina would have been a victim of the raid. She often regrets this, wondering if she could have made a difference in the survival of her family.
What is this character's greatest fear?
Heights. She is terrified of heights. Getting her on any kind of flying mount is borderline impossible. You'd need a chloroform cloth or a really big stick.
Describe this character's most devastating moment.
Finding out that her family had perished in the raid. The hope she'd clung to to recover from the bullet wound turned out to be completely false. She had to come to terms that she was not only homeless and stranded, but also completely and utterly alone.
What is this character's greatest achievement?
Although in her mind she was simply wandering south, Neina's greatest achievement was probably her on-foot trek from Hillsbrad to Stormwind amidst the fresh destruction by Deathwing. That's a big deal for someone who is incapable of defending herself.
What is this character's greatest hope?
She hopes to redeem herself by helping the homeless and hurting cluttered in Westfall.
Does this character have an obsession? Name it.
Booze! Neina's a bonafide alcoholic, and she'll proudly admit to it.
What is this character's greatest disappointment?
Neina is disappointed by her lack of fighting skill. As much as she wants to learn how to defend herself, handing Neina a weapon is about as useful as Magikarp using Splash.
What is this character's worst nightmare?
Being depended on. She has committment issues.
Whom does this character most wish to please? Why?
No one, really. Neina's an independent soul, and failure doesn't bother her.
Describe this character's mother.
Neina gets her promiscuity from her "Ma," Colette Rainor. Colette had a habit of hanging around the docks in Southshore, and and had the reputation of having her way with more than one sailor. After laying with a dark skinned trader from the south, Colette found herself grate with his child. Neina. The only man willing to support Colette and her bastard child was her close friend, Joseph. Settling down on Joseph's livestock farm and taking him as her husband, Colette put her promiscuous ways behind her and sought to put her powers into being a loving mother. Bearing four sons by Joseph, with the addition of Neina, Colette was a regular farmwife. No stranger to labor, she taught her children the importance of hard work and family.
Describe this character's father.
Even though he wasn't her biological father, Joseph Rainor never treated Neina as anything other than his own daughter. A kind and humble man, Joseph owned a livestock farm on the outskirts of Southshore. He lived a simple life with his wife and five children, attended church every Sunday, and worked his hands to the bone every day. If ever there were a man that Neina respected with her whole heart, it was her "Pa."
If s/he had to choose, with whom would this character prefer to live?
Well, her family of course. But they're dead, so. Right now, Neina is perfectly content with sleeping on benches and covering up with discarded newspaper. She finds a way to work it to her advantage in most scenarios.
Where does this character fall in birth order? What effect does this have?
Neina is the oldest in a set of five siblings. From oldest to youngest, she had four brothers--Grae, Drack, Phin, and Tanner. She loved all of her little brothers--especially Grae--and can probably contribute her love of children to the many years she spent taking care of them.
Describe this character's siblings or other close relatives.
Grae; Neina's partner in crime. Spending nearly every moment together, the pair was notorious for their mischevious behavior. It was Grae's ability to apologize and take responsibility for his actions that set he and his sister apart, however. A fresh recruit of the town militia, Grae died at the age of 18, trying in vain to defend Southshore.
Drack; The least charasmatic of the Rainor kids, Drack spent most of his time indoors. Stumbling upon him writing glyphs out of chalk on his bedroom floor, Neina was the only person who knew her little brother's interest in dark magic. Quiet and unopinionated, Drack hated attending church with his family more than anything. Although Neina assumes her 16 year old brother to have died in the raid, he was nowhere to be found when she returned to the farmhouse.
Phin; Spunky and energetic, Phin only seemed to be calm in his sleep. A regular comedian, much of Phin's humor rubbed off on Neina, causing her to be extremely fond of his company. Phin died at the age of 13 in the basement of the Rainor farmhouse, his face lacerated beyond recognition.
Tanner; Whiney and awfully clingy, Tanner was a real mama's boy. While he would rarely seperate himself from Colette's side, the boy could otherwise be found in the kitchen. A true prodigy at the cooking pot, Neina enjoyed her youngest brother's cooking more than her mother's, opting for his dishes any chance she got. Tanner died at the age of 11 in his mother's arms, huddled in fear in the corner of the farmhouse basement.
Describe this character's bedroom. Include three cherished items.
Neina is homeless for the time being, but while she lived in Southshore, her room was in the small attic of the famhouse. The furnishing was bare minimum due to the family's poor financial status. Neina would have cherished her gardening gloves, the barette Colette gave her to wear to church, and her pet frog Borris, the main tool in many of her pranks.
What is this character's birth date? How does this character manifest traits of his/her astrological sign?
I won't lie, I had to look up astrological signs because I'd never really thought about it. After checking around, Neina would probably be an Aquarius, born February 10th. She's witty and clever, and loves to make people laugh. While she's good with people and naturally social, she tends to be aloof and shies away when commitment is involved.
If this character had to live in seclusion for six months, what six items would s/he bring?
A sleeping bag, and five changes of slutty clothes. It's worked for her so far.
Why is this character angry?
It's tough to make Neina truly angry, but she's easily annoyed by animals. Neina hates animals. Coincidentally, animals take a natural liking to her. She can also get nasty when she gets totally shitfaced.
What calms this character?
A big ol' tankard of booze.
Describe a recurring dream or nightmare this character might have.
Anything involving the raid on Southshore.
List the choices (not circumstances) that led this character to his/her current predicament.
Choosing to seduce Fallion, choosing to stab Fallion, choosing to take Drack's Book of the Dead, choosing to wander south toward Stormwind, choosing to use her body as a survival tool, choosing to be an advocate for the homeless, choosing to pose as a priestess to steal money from the Cathedral, choosing to be adopted by gypsies after she jumped ship to Kalimdor.
List the circumstances over which this character has no control.
Being attacked by Fallion, being shot by Ellen, the raid on Southshore killing her family, the scouts from Arathi finding her in the foothills and healing her, the people on her journey who urged her toward Stormwind, Ellen tracking her down and picking another fight (ice lance to the sternum), being homeless, the Cathedral catching her red-handed stealing money.
What wakes this character in the middle of the night?
Weather, bugs, and the occasional guard urging her to get her bum ass off of the private property she's sleeping on.
How would a stranger describe this character?
Confident looking and flirtatious, a bar fly and a charmer.
Or a slut.
What does this character resolve to do differently every morning?
Neina doesn't resolve to do many things, since she often feels she lacks a real purpose. She's on-and-off with her motivation to aid the homeless situation in Westfall, so sometimes it's that.
Who depends on this character? Why?
No one depends on Neina, and she likes it that way. She hates feeling responsible for people because she knows she can never stick around.
If this character knew s/he had exactly one month to live, what would s/he do?
Tell the penny-pinching Stormwind government to suck her hairy homeless balls, then drink herself into oblivion.
How would a dear friend or relative describe this character?
"Neina? She's an idiot, but her heart's in the right place. This would be a dull place without her around." - Grae
"I love my daughter dearly, but she acts a little more like me when I was young than I would like..." - Colette
What is this character's most noticeable physical attribute?
Um, probably her boobs. She shows them off for free stuff all the time.
Write one additional thing about your character:
if I had to pick a theme song (as lame as that is XD), it'd probably be "Daylight" by Matt & Kim.

*I do like that song, but I've recently found more of a connection for her with "The Cave" by Mumford & Sons. c:
